Scott McManigle

Scott McManigle was born in Buffalo, NY where he attended Kenmore West High School lettering in three sports.  After high school Scott received his bachelor’s degree from Mercer University in Macon, GA where he was a member of their Division I baseball program.  Following college, Scott was a free agent with the New York Mets preceded by being the head baseball coach for Jamestown Community College at the young age of 22 years old.  

Today Scott is involved in athletics at every level.  He is currently an associate scout for the Cincinnati Reds, Director of Player Relations for the Buffalo Sabres Alumni and an agent / business manager for retired professional athletes such as Rob Ray, Matthew Barnaby, Andre Reed, Ruben Brown and Eric Moulds.  Scott also conducts his own baseball clinics and is currently the baseball color analyst for Time Warner Cable Sports Network.

 I was amazed that not one player asked the score or who won the game.  Believe it or not, none of the players even asked if they could play a specific postion either.  The kids were so involved in the fun of the game they forgot the pressures of the game.

When you love what you do, it goes by so much quicker.  Hopefully, the students involved in FAN Awards Network will see what sports can help provide them in their life.  Whether playing, coaching or any other job, sports is a great way to spend your work day!

No matter what sport I coach, I teach the science of the game just as much as the physical part.  I think this is what starts to separate the good players from the average players.  You can also see early on who is going to make a good coach after their playing days are over.

Lydia is such a good interviewer that everyone always gets into a conversation with her and forgets there is  a camera present.  What a great opportunity for students to get some public speaking experience. Lydia and I have our questions written down and we are ready to meet the nominees.

  As we sit and watch these athletes, lets remember the simple times of how happy they are just playing the game.  The recognition most of these award winners receive on May 21st from the FAN Awards Network will never be forgotten.  They will have stories of that night to tell their families for years to come.  So as you see a child just starting out in athletics, remember it is the positive recognition that fuels them, not the money.
